Big Changes

Last week I was the recipient of a rather random and anonymous e-mail tipping me off to a "potential breakout band of 2010". Now, rarely do I follow any unkown e-mail links (Prince Desmond of Nigeria still owes me a couple grand), however, I bit the bait and went on over to check out this supposed breakout band, Brooklyn's "MiniBoone".

Chalk one up for solicited mail! MiniBoone gave me everything the random stranger promised. Pure, hook filled melodic indie-rock. No pretentions, no reservations. Up-tempo, occasionally off-kilter indie-pop rock that delivers in only a way Brooklyn can. Similar to fellow Brooklynites Suckers (who I shared the same affinity for last year), their joy for writing and performing their songs ring throughout their music in the most infectuous way. In an era where we're constantly wanting something more experimental or drastically different, MiniBoone reminds us of the importance of having catchy, underground rock to compliment everything else.

MiniBoone has a new EP, "Big Changes", out now for digital download on Bandcamp and in it's physical state on January 26th.

"Rosalina Must Dance Alone" - MiniBoone from Big Changes (2010)

"Cool Kids Cut Out of the Heart Itself" - MiniBoone from Big Changes (2010)
